Who goes first?

In Africa, tradition compels the man to open the door and walk ahead of a woman. In Western countries it is the opposite.

Arguably the African way is more logical, since the man is supposedly there to ward off any unknown dangers that might be lurking and should lead the way.

Westerners argue that it is courteous to allow the female to go ahead of the man. The African male will shake his head, thinking how crazy is it that someone will treasure courtesy above safety.

The problem with people is that they believe that the things they value are true, and allow no other interpretation.

You should always believe that what you believe is true; otherwise there is not much point in believing it.

But here is the catch: Just because you believe something is right or true, or should be done in a certain way does not mean everybody else believes the same.
